About Michael:

I am currently finishing my undergraduate studies in Marine Resource Biosciences at Bremerhaven University in Germany, and I am completing a internship at the Marine Microbial Ecology Research Group at Swansea University to gain practical experience in the laboratory and scientific methods. Here, I mainly work on the cultivation and identification of microorganisms suspected of degrading polymers and conduct various experiments with them.

 

After my military service and several positions as a civil servant, I decided to pursue a career in science. During my studies in Germany, I realized through various placements in different biological disciplines that I am particularly interested in ecology and marine microbiology. In search of a suitable place for an international internship, I came across Dr. Sonnenschein and the Marine Microbial Ecology group in Swansea.
